Strong Foundations Virtual Home Inspection
The following pictures were taken during multiple
home inspections conducted by Strong Foundations at various houses for the
purpose of creating this virtual home inspection. Some pictures are
representative of common house defects while other pictures were taken to
document unusual defects.
We hope you enjoy this virtual home inspection.
It is a small sampling of the type of detailed work you can expect from a home
inspection conducted by Strong Foundations.

The asphalt shingle roof in this picture is missing a shingle tab. The tab was most likely torn off by high winds exposing the underlying shingle course and nailheads. This shingle will need to be replaced to help keep the roof free of leaks.
The rolled roof surface material in this picture has been face-nailed and never sealed. This is one of the most common roof defects I see and the only way to see it is by climbing up on the roof. These nailheads will need to be sealed with caulk or roofing cement to prevent leakage.
The roof in this picture is a flat built-up roof. These roofs need to be maintained and recoated every couple years to remain free of leaks. However, the corner section pictured shows a broken and open section of the roof which will allow water to leak into the attic area. Immediate repairs are needed.
A hole of any kind in a roof surface is considered a defect, no matter how small the hole may be. In this picture, a roofing nail from an underlying layer of shingles has come loose and popped through the surface of the exposed shingle. This is another common defect that cannot be seen from the ground.
Not all chimney flue interiors are observable but this one was because the chimney top did not have a cap installed. The picture shows the flue liner which is made of stacked sections of terra cotta deteriorating on the third section from the top. A chimney professional will be needed to come and replace the damaged section before the liner breaks apart and falls down the chimney.
This porch roof is in serious need of help. The front porch concrete slab has sunken and caused the roof to pull away from the exterior wall. In addition, the white support column has come loose and is being held in place by clothes line. See the next picture for a closeup of the clothes line.
